New Playbook for the New Now

Change….Since March 2020, it has felt like that word never has had more meaning. Both in our personal and professional lives, change has come at us from multiple fronts. In these uncharted times, association leaders can no longer rely on their old playbooks for addressing social, demographic and technological changes, identifying new business opportunities and revenue sources, increasing stakeholder engagement and advancing diversity, equity and inclusion.

Today’s challenges and tomorrow’s opportunities require a new playbook, one that is forward looking and adaptable to a world that is ever changing and moving faster each day. A playbook for the NEW NOW.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 13

9:00 am - Welcome & Opening Remarks

9:15 am - 12:15 pm - Inclusive Leadership

Raven Solomon -– CEO, Raven Solomon Enterprises

Inclusive Leadership can be a very illusive and ambiguous term. Yet, as the U.S. population grows more and more diverse, it is an emerging leadership capability that will be vital to the success of our workplaces and marketplaces in the very near future. Busy leaders need to know precisely what they can and should do to be inclusive leaders who truly foster a sense of belonging within their teams that results in employee engagement, high performance, and consistent results now and into the future.

This program details six characteristics of including leadership, demonstrating what each looks like in everyday leadership and addresses the inner drivers necessary to actualize these characteristics in a way that is seen and felt by team members.

12:15-1:15 pm - Networking Lunch

1:45-4:45 pm - Business Leadership

Tim Connor, CSP,  -– Owner, Global Conference Speaker

Every year over 200,000 businesses and associations in the US fail. And why? Simple – the organizations that have failed (state chapters, non-profits and others) lost relevance – to their customers, members and/or the marketplace. They failed to stay current with what organizations, the marketplace and customers want and why they want it, how they want it and where they want it. During this session Tim shares the contemporary common causes and contributors to the loss of relevance and numerous strategies, approaches, techniques and tactics to maintain relevance in a rapidly changing world.

8:30 am - 12:30 pm - Societal Leadership

Lowell Aplebaum, FASAE, CAE, CPF –  CEO, Vista Cova

The change that has been the past 18 months is, at this point, surprising to no organization. We are at a moment of inflection when, emerging from a period of crisis response, of societal shifts, of forced innovation, we have the potential to build a stronger future from all that we have learned. Strategy is no longer just about a plan – in the first half of our session we will explore approaches for incorporating strategic practices throughout your organization on a regular basis.

The structures of leadership our associations need to champion this strategy evolution also are evolving. In the second half of our session, we will explore what are the indicators of governance excellence in our world today, how are we finding the leaders we need, and how are we structuring on-ramps for better knowledge and service whether they are new to the board or returning for their 8th year (which we should talk about).

12:30 pm - Closing Remarks & Boxed Lunch Pick-up
