Hanover Habitat for Humanity

Their Vision
A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

All Are Welcome
Hanover Habitat for Humanity has an open-door policy: All who believe that everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to help with the work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people. In short, Habitat welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and also serves people in need of decent housing regardless of race or religion. As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize. This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith, or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.

Join us for a day of Habitat Repair Blitz.

Volunteer Information

  • All skill levels are welcome; no experience necessary!
  • A perfect opportunity for a group of your friends, co-workers, or organization!
  • Please arrive at 8:15 a.m. As soon as you arrive, check-in with the Construction Supervisor, George Robinson or Joanna Gerbino.
  • Sign a waiver on one of our iPads, and go over basic safety, and construction methods critical for the day.
  • Anyone ages 16 & 17 will need a guardian with them and to sign the waiver for them.
  • Construction begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m.
  • Please wear appropriate clothing to the work site.  Baggy clothes, open toes-shoes, or jewelry could create safety hazards on a construction site.  Keep weather in mind. Rain will make the site muddy, so plan accordingly!
  • Sunscreen and bug spray are encouraged.
  • Lunch is not provided, so please bring a packed lunch.  There will be a 30 minute break for lunch.  Water and snacks are highly recommended. (VSAE will attempt to find a sponsor for snacks and lunch and keep you posted.)
  • Please do not use your cell phones while on-site, unless there is an emergency.  Volunteering on an active construction site requires everyone’s full attention!
  • We provide safety and protective equipment.  If you have work gloves that you like to use, and fit well, we suggest bringing them.
  • In the case of thunderstorms or other inclement weather and we need to cancel, we will inform you either the day before or early the morning of.  But remember that we try to work in all-weather conditions to get our project done!
