Own Your Journey – Reclaim Your Joy
Friday, September 5
Richmond Marriott Downtown
Registration is now closed. Contact VSAE with any questions or concerns.
There is nothing more important these days than an optimism of spirit. We are living in extremely challenging times, and it is very easy to get bogged down in all of the low points. This interactive session helps people reframe their low points as Joy Junctures and create their own Joy Practices for moving forward. Studies have shown that employees who experience a greater sense of connectedness and joy are more loyal to their employers, reducing turnover and increasing employee engagement. Those who are leading groups of employees, volunteers, and members will find this especially relevant as a method to bolster psychological well-being by exploring joy together.
Learning Objective #1: Reframe tough moments in your career or team dynamics to recognize the growth, clarity, or connection they brought (“Joy Junctures").
Learning Objective #2: Explore what a Joy Practice looks like in your personal and professional lives and how it can boost resilience, emotional intelligence, and team engagement.
Learning Objective #3: Start building your own Joy Practice with practical steps you can use to lead with more clarity, connection, and purpose.
Format: In-person only Domain: 2- Executive Leadership

Charity

The VSAE Community Service Committee has selected Family Lifeline as this month's charity recipient. Family Lifeline’s mission centers on strengthening families and individuals by bringing health and hope directly into the home. Our programs span the life course, with a focus on building strong, resilient households equipped to navigate life’s everyday and extraordinary challenges. Through our Growing Well programs, we support parents from pregnancy through a child’s first five years—fostering confident, connected caregivers and healthy, school-ready children through parenting and child development education, health guidance, developmental screenings, and connection to community resources. Our Living Well programs provide trauma-informed, person-centered care that supports healthy aging, caregiver well-being, and multi-generational wellness. As people age, social isolation, chronic conditions, and frailty can become significant barriers to independence. We work alongside families to ensure older adults can remain safe, engaged, and thriving at home and in their communities.
Raffle tickets will be sold at the event to raise money for this worthy cause. The charity raffle winner receives one-night stay with dinner for two at the Richmond Marriott Downtown.
