Avoiding Land Mines in Your Records and Emails"

All Seminar Passes accepted.

Description: Emails can be a blessing and a curse. They improve our efficiency, but they can humiliate us and ruin our careers. For example, General Petraeus, the former head of the CIA, had to resign, pay a $100,000 fine, and was on probation because of emails he sent to his biographer.  The mayor of Detroit sits in jail because he lied about the text messages he sent to his chief of staff and mistress. As you have read in the newspapers, numerous companies were criminally indicted and paid multi-million dollar settlements. They have learned that a seemingly innocuous phrase such as "This will negatively impact the bottom line…" in a private email from an employee can be used to undermine the employee’s credibility, cost the organization money, and have a negative effect on the organization’s reputation.

During the session, you will view real life examples of emails and other statements in documents that have had disastrous consequences. You will learn about specific tools that you can use to motivate your staff to write clear, correct, and appropriate documents that will not be misinterpreted.
