11-02-19 Community Service - RABA Build-a-Bike Day
Saturday, November 02, 2019, 9:00 AM EST
Category: Events

Every year the Richmond Area Bicycling Association, through its RABA Foundation (a 501-c3 organization), raises money to purchase bicycles to donate to area Christmas Mothers so they can give them to kids less fortunate in our community. The program provided 600 bikes in 2017 and 2018! With your support we can achieve our goal of buying more than 800 bikes, assembling and delivering them to be distributed to those who need them.

When:
Saturday, November 2, 2019
9:00 a.m. - until the bikes are built

Where:
Richmond Community ToolBank
1407 Cummings Drive
Richmond, VA 23220

Skills? No bike mechanic skills are required, but if you have tools like multi-sized Allen wrenches, flat and Phillips head screw drivers, bike stand, work gloves, etc. please bring them so you can be partnered with others who don’t have any of these things. Positive, team-oriented, can-do and attention-to-detail spirits are greatly desired!

Food, drinks: There will hot coffee and a few snacks in the morning; lunch will be pizza and bottled water/sodas. Please bring $5, cash or check made payable to the RABA Foundation, to cover the cost of lunch.

Wear: Layered, warm clothing and comfortable/supportive shoes. While we are inside a large storage warehouse, there is NO heat and we are standing on concrete floors. Be prepared for possible cold temperatures if outside weather is cold.

If you'd like to make a donation to help the Richmond Area Bicycling Association (RABA) reach the goal of 800 bikes CLICK HERE and make your secure donation thru PayPal. Any amount you can give helps. Large bikes for teenagers cost about $100, mid-size bikes $75 and small bikes $50. Remember, your donations are tax deductible.
