Seminar: The 7 Disciplines of Authentic Leaders for Association Leaders

Establish predictability, communicate clearly, and demonstrate confidence with your team and association. Most association leaders recognize the need to continue to grow in their leadership. This seminar explores the ways that association leaders may unknowingly erode their effectiveness as a leader and the seven disciplines that they can practice to lead their teams more authentically. Christopher includes rich examples and real-life stories from his own experience as a leader as well as from the clients with whom he works. There will also be a panel interview with executives who strive for authentic leadership within their associations.

Key Takeaways
After attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • Define the attributes of an inauthentic leader vs. an authentic leader.
  • Commit to simple actions from each of the seven disciplines that association leaders can immediately apply.
  • Determine in which of the disciplines they are already effective, and which offer the greatest opportunity to improve.

Lunch Presentation: Lessons Learned from The Authentic Leader Show Podcast

In 2018, Christopher R. Jones transitioned his monthly Authentic Interview lunch events to a weekly podcast called The Authentic Leader Show. Now more than 50 episodes later, he decodes his business and association leader guests' most powerful insights and breakthrough moments that took them to the next level, as well as the rituals, mindsets, and daily actions they take to succeed.

Christopher R. Jones, Authentic Leader

Christopher advises association professionals to become the leaders others follow because they want to, not because they have to. In short, he coaches Authentic Leaders, who express their unique and authentic approach to leadership. The result? Not only inner confidence, but outward results like increased productivity, team engagement, and business success. Miles Davis, considered the greatest jazz trumpet player of all time, once said, “It takes a long time to learn how to play like yourself.” Christopher believes many leaders feel the same about their own leadership track. It takes time and it’s not easy to become your best personal expression of leadership. That’s why he speaks and advises on the 7 Disciplines of Authentic Leaders. This simple but effective framework expedites results in the leaders with whom Christopher works, getting them to new levels of impact and personal satisfaction in the shortest amount of time possible. For the past 30 years, Christopher has held leadership development positions and consulted leadership teams at world headquarters of Fortune 500 companies in multiple industries including information technology and advanced education, as well as lead nonprofit executive boards through capital fundraising campaigns. Christopher hosts “The Authentic Leader Show” podcast where he interviews CEOs, executive directors, and the occasional celebrity. His guests go deep into their journeys of leadership and personal effectiveness. Christopher sits on the boards of the Richmond Christian Leadership Initiative (RCLI) and the Chesterfield County Chamber of Commerce. In 2017, Christopher was named the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce Member of the Year.
